Our school has a club called Friends of Rachel. By the end of the day, everybody wanted to do something that could help change somebody else. When we walked back to our lockers, there were sticky notes with positive quotes on every one. He shared videos, images, and stories about Rachel. When Larry Scott, Rachel’s uncle, came to Memorial Middle School, he told us about his niece and what happened the day of the shooting. Our whole school knows the story of Rachel Joy Scott and the Columbine High School shooting. To find out more about this amazing organization go to. On June 2, the Lake County area event will be held right here at Memorial! It's a very fun and special day because it unites the people from different communities in supporting each other and putting an end to cancer.

Towards the end of night, the luminaries are lit, each with the name or memory of someone lost to cancer. There are also games, food, and many other fun activities. During this fun day there are laps walked around a track, each with a different theme. All of this leads up to yearly events held all across the country.

All of the money goes towards saving the lives of cancer patients. Through the year we have multiple fundraisers such as flower and luminaria sales. In doing so, members raise cancer awareness, honor those fighting, honor the survivors, and remember those who have lost to cancer. People from 27 countries raise money to help beat cancer. Relay for life is an organization created to benefit the American Cancer Society. It's clear to see these next few weeks will busy, so mark your calendars! Finally, on May 18th, our buildings 7th graders will take an awesome field trip to Cedar Point. On May 17th all of Memorial choirs will perform in the Memorial auditorium. On the night of May 10th Memorial is hosting an awards ceremony to honor our school’s top students. Eighth graders leave on May 2nd, and return on the 4th from their trip to Washington D.C.

There will also be science and social studies state testing that day, and math state testing on April 30th. The next day, April 27th, there will be a fun filled dance with the theme “Cosmic Colors” hosted by Memorial’s own NJHS and Student Council. On Thursday, April 26th, Memorial is hosting the Wearable Art Show, featuring the amazing art work of Memorial’s students. As many students know, it is track season, so there are now meets happening weekly. As the 2017-2018 school year comes to an end, many exciting events are coming up.
